Tavern is a med-fan tavern simulator answering the long asked question of what happens between quests when heroes and townsfolk, both too dumb and endearing to be true, gather to have a deserved rest. NOT made using RPG Maker. Also, NOT made sticking to the initial game jam intent as even we grew attached to the characters and decided to write more stuff.

You have one week to repay your loan of 700 shiny gold coins. As your tavern just opened, you need your lousy lot of heroes to succeed on quests so they attract customers to your place. Apart from the first quest every day, quest and events happen randomly.

CONTROLS:

  • Move – Arrow keys
  • Action – C
  • Run – V
  • Back/Open Log – X
  • Quit – Escape

We would like to thank all our friends who played the game and gave us feedback to help us making it better.

For some reasons, osx and linux ports don't seem to work so we made a html version. We hope it runs smoothly. Please report any bug/issue you might have with the game, we will try to fix it.

hi, i really like your game. Just need a couple of things. First of all i saw a bug several times that loops a conversation or deactivates the c button. Secondly, The game needs a quick save button for times like this and need at least 3 saving slots. Thirdly, if you dont play the cleaning minigame or fire the chimney does it effetcs your earnings? Also there is another bug i just found that the guards asking for renee visits your inn too often. Lastly couldn't finished 7. day but i'm pretty sure that this game can be a serious simulation with just bunch of in-game purchable upgrades. Thanks for your efforts.

Hey ! Thanks a lot for your comment, it means a lot to us.

First to answer your questions: the cleaning minigame does have an effect in the number of people you get during the day and thus in your earnings. If your glasses are dirty you get bad reputation so less people in the start of the day. If you break a glass you lose 1 coin. I don't remember for the chimney though.

Long story short, there won't be any update on this game for a loooooong time.

The thing is: we struggled just to finish this barely playable version, mostly because the engine we used (construct 2) is a pain (creating weird bugs like the one you had with the looping dialog) and we didn't build the game with a structure that would allow us to save some time when debugging or that would allow us to add features without creating hundreds of bugs.

So in order to make things properly we would have to start over in another engine, which would take a hell of a time.To be honest after two years to make this one,we're kind of lacking the motivation.

Right now we are working on a new game and have plenty of other ideas we want to try before coming back to Tavern. But maybe one day.

Thank you again for taking the time to write a comment. We are very glad someone (meaning someone we don't know) played and liked our quirky, buggy game.

Cheers!

Hey! İt is also good to know my comments means a lot.

You guys did great job. İ understand the struggle about making a game or working with unproper engine. İ really liked it,the idea of "playing an ordinary town folk but still being head of quest organisation while struggling with ordinary shop keeper problems" This is really amazing! When it is right time to finish this game for you, i will be there to support you with all i can. Aslo, from now on, i'm gonna check your other works.

Cheers!
